Alhaji Aminu Alkali, Taraba State Deputy Governor
Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Aminu Alkali, has returned to Jalingo, the State capital, after prolonged absence.
Although there is no official statement from the government on Alkali’s return, there is a short video clip of his circulating on social media.
Sources disclosed that Alkali came into the state through Yalo Airport.
He was said to have arrived from Abuja and taken to his official residence at the Government House in a convoy of four vehicles.
Alkali, who has been reportedly battling an undisclosed ailment, was last seen in office eight months ago.
An official attached to the Deputy Governor’s office, who did not want his name mentioned, said the Deputy Governor entered his office yesterday (Tuesday) and stayed briefly.
“It is today that l was told that the Deputy Governor returned to Jalingo unannounced. l did not see him at the time l entered the office but l was told that he entered his office briefly and met with some senior officers,” he said.
The Deputy Governor has no press secretary assigned to him, but the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Agbu Kefas, Mr. Yusuf Sanda, said he had not been officially informed about the return of the Deputy Governor.
“I saw a short video clip showing the Deputy Governor in his office and l do not know the source of the video clip,” he said.
Senior Adviser on Media and Digital Communication to Governor Agbu Kefas, Mr. Emmanuel Bello, told Daily Trust that he could not make any official statement about the development because he is spokesperson of the governor.
“I saw the video clip you are talking about and l cannot comment on that; it is the Commissioner of Information who can make any official statement about the state government,” he said. (Daily Trust)
