Hon Solomon Maren, House of Reps member
Shockwave has hit Plateau politics as Honourable Solomon Maren decamps to the All Progressive Congress (APC), but his supporters refuse to follow, instead endorsing Governor Mutfwang for a second term.
On August 23, 2025, former supporters of Hon. Maren, representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency, gathered at the NUT Hall in Mangu Local Government, Plateau State, to reaffirm their commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s leadership.
Led by Hon. Dauda Nathaniel Kyak, former Senior Legislative Aide to Hon. Maren and Convener of the programme, the team expressed their refusal to follow Hon. Maren’s defection to the APC.
Kyak praised the supporters for their teamwork and loyalty to the PDP, stating that Hon. Maren’s exit had now liberated them to form the “Mutfwang Phase Two Movement 2027”.
The gathering, comprising LGA coordinators, ward coordinators, appointees, and polling unit canvassers, unanimously endorsed Governor Mutfwang for a second term due to his outstanding performance in reshaping rural and urban communities. The motion was moved by Hon. Solomon Duka and seconded by Mrs. Christy Mallo.
Both LGA party chairmen attended the event, echoing sentiments of unity and appreciation. Hon. Jonathan Fwangden, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, lauded the team’s resilience. At the same time, Ambassador Emmanuel Mwolpun, Chairman of Mangu LGA, encouraged the team to canvass for Governor Mutfwang’s second term. (The Guardian)
