The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recorded a total of 505,906 new registrants nationwide in the ongoing online Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The Public Affairs Officer, INEC, Oyo State, Mr Olayiwola Awolowo, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Monday.
Awolowo said the new registrants for the exercise, which began on Aug. 18, included those who just turned 18 years old and those who had not previously registered.
He, however, said that in-person registration for new registrants commenced on Monday.
According to him, those who have lost their voter’s cards, or with damaged or destroyed cards, and those whose names no longer appear on the voters’ register can register online.
He added that those who wish to change their polling units within the same ward, local government area and state could also register online.
He, however, warned against double registration, saying that the commission will detect multiple registrations by using the Automated Biometrics Identity System (ABIS).
He urged intending registrants to register via www.cvr.inecnigeria.org or www.cvr.inec.gov.ng
The public affairs officer further revealed that the commission still had in its custody over 700,000 uncollected Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) in the state.
He said the ongoing registration would, however, end on Aug. 30, 2026, to enable the commission to prepare for the 2027 general elections.
He called on all eligible individuals to maximise the ongoing registration opportunity for them to participate in the 2027 general elections. (NAN)
