Operatives of the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps have arrested a 28-year-old man, Faremi Ojo, for allegedly threatening the lives of his family members.
The Head of Ekiti Amotekun Corps Communications Department, Abiodun Adeleye, in a statement on Wednesday, stated that the suspect, a resident of Ilupeju Ekiti in the Oye Local Government Area of the state, was apprehended on Monday following a complaint from one of his brothers.
Adeleye said, “The complainant stated that the suspect was threatening the lives of his family members, alongside the entire community, immediately after he returned from prison on account of trading human parts for money rituals.
“The complainant and eyewitnesses stated that the suspect was constituting a nuisance and disrupting the peace of the area through intimidation with a cutlass, incantation horns (afose), cane, knife, and other weapons, which were reportedly laced with charms.”
“He strangled his father, burgled his house, stabbed me in the head with a screwdriver after making several threats, and attempted to kill everyone before absconding. Everyone in the family has already disowned him. No one can sleep again with both eyes closed in the entire community.
“His unseriousness, thuggery, and unsteadiness at work were not encouraging enough for us to provide any financial aid for his freedom,” the statement quoted the complainant as saying.
Adeleye stated that operatives swiftly acted on the report, arrested the suspect, and transferred him to Amotekun Headquarters in Ado Ekiti for further profiling.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect said his ill-actions and misbehaviour were traced to the failure of his family to provide financial assistance for his freedom ceremony at work,” Adeleye added.
He confirmed that the suspect, along with the exhibits recovered from him, had been handed over to the Rapid Response Squad of the Ekiti State Police Command in Ado Ekiti for further investigation and necessary action. (The PUNCH)
