CRISIS may be looming in the Edo State Roads Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) over a recent clarification of the status of the association in the state.
The Deputy National President, Planning and Logistics of the association, Comrade Richard Aimienoho speaking on behalf of the national president, Alhaji Musa Muhammed told journalists that Mr. Charles Momoh is the legally recognized chairman of the association who he said would soon resume office to see out the tenure of his predecessor, Sunday Erhahon.
He also said that Osakpanmwan Eriyo who is alleged to be angling to take over the association in the state haven served as state chairman in the past and later national president of the association is no longer a member of the association as he has been allegedly expelled.
But the National Secretary of the association, Hon Ya’u Abubakar Kabiru has countered these claims saying Aimienoho and Momoh are not members of the association and their stance on the matter should be disregarded.
He said It was not true that Eriyo has been expelled from the union saying the issue between Eriyo and the national president was still in the Court of Appeal.
He said “Who doesn’t know Comrade Osakpamwan Eriyo in Edo state as a RTEAN leader? Or it’s Richard Aimienoho and Momoh who are Godwin Obaseki boys that will be telling us the original members of RTEAN or what to do in the state?
“As we speak, the only recognized RTEAN leadership in Edo State is under Comrade Osakpamwan Eriyo control. And as such Richard Aimienoho lacks the powers to delve into RTEAN matters in Edo state. More so at the National level since the matter of whom is the rightful president of the union is still pending at the appeal court in Abuja.
“Also, Monday Orhue is a loyalist to the present Governor Obaseki and the governor is just abusing his power by imposing Monday Orhue on RTEAN members in Edo state.
“The governor has no jurisdiction over union matters. The termination of the governor’s tenure ends with that of Monday Orhue who is not a Union member. I will appeal to the public to disregard this imposter who claims to be the leader of RTEAN in Edo state.
“So therefore, I would like to call on our people in Edo State and Nigeria to disregard the shenanigans of Richard Aimienoho. He’s no longer a member of the union in Edo State.” (Saturday Vanguard)
