Osupa, Pasuma sheath swords, end 20-year feud at Fuji Opera concert

In a historic moment for the Nigerian Fuji music industry, two prominent figures, Saheed Osupa and Pasuma, have put an end to their long-standing 20-year feud.

The reconciliation took place at the Fuji Opera concert, a gathering that also saw the participation of other top Fuji music acts, including Obsere and Malaika.

The Initiative for this reunification was attributed to the efforts of the Fuji Music Association of Nigeria (FUMAN), demonstrating their commitment to fostering unity within the genre.

The move towards reconciliation gained momentum when Osupa decided to end his rift with Wasiu Ayinde, also known as K1, when he visited him at his palatial home in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, to mend their age-long feud.

Despite initial scepticism about the feasibility of reconciling Osupa and Pasuma, another Fuji star, Abass Akande, popularly known as Obesere, reportedly played a crucial role in making the peace move a reality.

The peace process, however, is not limited to Osupa and Pasuma, as the broader Fuji music community anticipates a similar resolution between Obesere and K1, whose feud has endured for years.

At the Fuji Opera concert, a symbolic exchange of hugs and microphones between Osupa and Pasuma unfolded, signifying the end of hostilities and a new era of collaboration.

This gesture, common among musicians, served as a public declaration of unity and love, reassuring fans that the era of discord is now behind them.

However some Fuji music enthusiasts and patrons while reacting to peace moves noted that with the recent wave of peace sweeping through the genre, it is hoped that this newfound harmony will not only endure but also inspire a more collaborative and supportive environment for Fuji musicians in the future.
