
The Presidency this morning alerted the public to the existence of fake Facebook accounts set up by unscrupulous people and used to demand monetary assistance and posting of spurious job vacancies.
Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari (Media and Publicity), Mr. Femi Adesina,
said in a disclaimer published on his Facebook page:
“I have noticed that some unscrupulous people have opened various Facebook Accounts in my name, demanding monetary assistance and posting spurious job vacancies to dupe unsuspecting members of the society.
“The lists include Office of the Special Adviser to the President, Amnesty Office,Abuja with 731 friends, Special Adviser at Politician of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 47 friends, Femi Adesina Media and Publicity, 14 likes, Femi Adesina interest, 204 likes, Femi Adesina Newspapers, 50 likes and Closed Group of friends who like Femi Adesina.
“I state categorically, that these accounts are created for the purpose of mischief, and are hereby disclaimed.
“The accounts that are official are my Fan page with over 28,000 likes and my first account opened in 2011 with over 300 mutual and over 50, 830 friends.
“Thank you and God bless.”
