The Directorate of Defence Information has distanced its Director, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar, from a newspaper headline, “Military to Lai Mohammed: We Are Not Fighting Boko Haram with Inferior Weapons”.
“This headline is not only inciting but completely out of context because the Director never made such statement throughout the media interaction with the AIT that invited him to shed light and sensitise Nigerians on the new antics of suicide bombers in the North East,” Group Captain WM Maigida said in a statement issued yesterday evening in Abuja.
“Consequently, the Nigerian Armed Forces will continue to be professional and continue to guard the constitution and subordinate itself to democratic governance of this country,” the statement said.
“We therefore solicit the cooperation and support of all Nigerians in the fight against terrorism and other allied criminal activities. We shall remain focussed in protecting lives and property of law abiding citizens,” it added.
