The Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, has said that the state has completely been liberated from the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
Addressing officials of the Nigerian Port Authority, who were in the state to present some relief materials to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the troubled northeast state, the Governor said the only thing left was the relocation of the IDPs who were spread across the state and beyond.
The Governor represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Wali, said that the government was waiting for clearance directive from security forces before the Displaced Persons would be relocated to their various homes.
He appreciated the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari towards ending the insurgency.
Mr Wali further stated that over 300,000 people across the state had been displaced as a result of the insurgency.
At least 20,000 IDPs are currently living in camps spread across the state while 280,000 are in home communities within the state.
The Governor also revealed that his administration had so far committed the sum of 15 billion Naira to ending the insurgency and regretted that such money would have been used for infrastructural development in the state.
The leader of the delegation, Isah Suwait, said the Nigerian Port Authority was concerned with the plight of the IDPs hence the need to come to their rescue.
Mr Suwait called on other corporate organisations and spirited individuals to come to the aid of the people who are suffering in their fatherland.
Some of the items given to the IDPs are Maize, Beans, Blankets, and Mats, Vegetable oil, millet and mattresses. (Channels TV)
