World Bank Vice President to deliver maiden Philip Asiodu Lecture

A group of concerned technocrats and business executives has instituted the Philip Asiodu Lecture Series (PALS) in honour of Chief Philip Asiodu, renowned economist, technocrat, retired Federal Permanent Secretary, former Chief Economic Adviser and Federal Minister.

The Lecture Series will serve as a veritable platform for discussing critical national economic and social issues.

In a statement issued yesterday by the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Peter Osamgbi, he said that Chief Asiodu approved the institution of the Lecture Series because of the urgent need to x-ray, in the most scholarly fashion, Nigeria’s economic and social challenges with a view to proffering solutions, all aimed at accelerating the emergence of Nigeria as a developed, prosperous, and peaceful nation.

Osamgbi said that this year’s theme is, “The Proper Role of Oil in the Context of Accelerating Growth and Development”.

He said the event will hold on Monday, February 22, 2016, at 11am, at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The statement said that Vice President and Treasurer, World Bank, Arunma Oteh, will be the guest speaker, while the event will be chaired by foremost corporate lawyer and industrialist, Chief Chris Ogunbanjo, CON, OFR.

Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, GCFR, will be the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion billed to attract eminent personalities from all walks of life across the globe, Osamgi stated.
