Supreme Court verdict in favour of Ikpeazu has enthroned equity in Abia —Speaker

The Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly and Deputy National Chairman, Conference of Speakers’ of State Legislators, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike, has congratulated Governor of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, PhD, on his victory, Wednesday, at the Supreme court, describing it as the best thing that has happened to Ndi Abia this year.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Clinton Uba, Rt. Hon. Azubuike dedicated the victory to God Almighty, “who heard the cry of Abia majority, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Abians in general.”

He lauded the justices of Supreme Court “for their wise verdict, which has enthroned peace, justice, equity and fair play in Abia State.”

The Speaker added that “the Supreme Court, by the verdict, has redeemed the sacred image of the judiciary which has come under public scrutiny as conflicting judgments on similar cases were creating tension and acrimony in the country.”

Rt. Hon. Azubuike thanked the apex court “for exploring all the jurisprudential apparatus of justice in delivering a sound judgment.” He said that with this judgment, “men of letters of the Constitution have affirmed that elections can only be won through the ballot box and not media propaganda or Facebook lies.”

The Abia Speaker noted that the eight months of the Governor Ikpeazu-led administration has improved the fortunes of Abia through prompt payment of salaries, construction of roads across the three senatorial zones of the state, massive infrastructural renewal of Aba, with more expensive but durable roads construction known as cement technology, upgrading of markets, establishment of industrial clusters and creating agricultural value chain through agribusiness, among other development indices.

Rt. Hon. Azubuike assured that Governor Ikpeazu will not disappoint Abians who voted massively for him on April 11, 2015. He urged the opposition to set politics aside and join hands with the governor in his quest to develop the state, believing that his tenure will put smiles on the face of all Abians.
