Senate threatens to order revocation of lands allocated to Jonathan, others

The Senate committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has threatened to order the revocation of plots of land allocated to former president Goodluck Jonathan and 29 others in the Maitama district of Abuja.

Chairman of the Committee, Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi West) said the plots would be revoked on the basis that they are on reserved areas.

Melaye listed other persons affected, including former Justice Minister and Attorney-General of the Federation, Muhammed Bello Adoke; former Bauchi State governor, Isa Yuguda; acting National Chairman of PDP, Uche Secondus; and the late National Security Adviser, Andrew Okoye Azazi as beneficiaries of plots of land in the area.

Melaye issued the threat during a budget defence meeting between the committee and the FCT Minister, Muhammed Bello.

According to him, the plots of land allocated to Jonathan and others in the Maitama District fall within an area designated for erection of tourist structure for foreign visitors. (Daily Trust)
