It’s a case of a lawyer allegedly going against the law, as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday arrested Mr Ricky Tarfa for alleged obstruction of justice.
The anti-graft agency arrested the Senior Advocate of Nigeria at about 5:00 pm local time outside the premises of the Lagos High Court in Igbosere area of Lagos Island.
A spokesperson of the Commission, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed Mr Tarfa’s arrest in a telephone call with Channels Television’s judiciary correspondent, Shola Soyele.
According to the agency, Mr Tarfa had allegedly prevented the operatives of the EFCC from arresting his clients, two Beninois nationals, who were being tried by the court for offenses bordering on forgery and conspiracy.
The EFCC said ongoing investigations necessitated the re-arrest of the two foreigners, but Mr Tarfa allegedly hid the men in his car from about 12:00 noon till about 5:00 pm local time before the commission eventually nabbed him and his clients. (Channels TV)
