Supreme Court dismisses suit challenging Ortom’s election as Benue Governor

The Supreme Court today dismissed a suit challenging the election of Mr Samuel Ortom as the governor of Benue State.

A Channels TV report said the apex court ruled on the ground that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the poll, Mr Tarzoor Terhemen, lacked the locus standi to challenge the qualification of Mr Ortom to stand in the election held on April 11, 2015.

“Justice Nwali Ngwuta, who read the judgment, affirmed the election of Mr Ortom as Benue Governor and awarded 150,000 Naira, as cost against Mr Terhemen,” the report said.
