The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Saturday, January 9, 2016:

NORTHERN STATES: Maiduguri, Nguru, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto Yelwa and Yola will experience moderate dust haze. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 12-18oC.

CENTRAL STATES: Sunny and hazy conditions will prevail over Abuja, Minna, Bida, Lafia, Ilorin and Makurdi. Temperatures within the range of 16-20oC is expected during the night.

SOUTHERN STATES: Mist/Fog patches are expected in the early morning hours to clear at sun rise over Port Harcourt, Yenegoa, Calabar and Eket. Localised showers will prevail during the afternoon period while partly cloudy conditions are anticipated over Akure, Ibadan, Benin, Enugu and Owerri. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 20-24oC.

NOTE: During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite easily to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks.
