Police Officer cracks student’s skull with baton

An Assistant Superintendent of Police attached to the Adigbe Police Division in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, has allegedly assaulted and brutalised a 25-year-old student of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, leading to a crack in his skull.

Channels Television quoted an eyewitness as saying that the incident occurred when the young boy was hit with a police baton in the head three times while reading in front of his residence.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Command said investigation has been launched into it “and the officer involved would be made to face the full weight of the law if found culpable of the offence allegedly committed,” the report said.

It added that “the Police also assured the general public that the much desired justice would be done after the culpability or otherwise of the said police officer has been established.”
