ANXIETY has gripped Odogbolu, Ogun State, following the deaths of an herbalist, Chief Kabiru Rasaq, popularly known as Amigboro, and his wife, Kehinde, who reportedly died hours apart on Friday after the former’s death following an unsuccessful surgery.
It was learnt on Sunday that Chief Rasaq reportedly died after an unsuccessful surgery at an undisclosed hospital, while his wife reportedly slumped and later died after being informed of her husband’s death.
Social media had over the weekend been awash with reports of the deaths of the herbalist and his wife, which were said to have left residents of Odogbolu in utter shock, mourning and disbelief.
A Facebook user, Fadipe Gbenro, wrote on Saturday, “We announce with deep sorrow the passing of the Oluwo Ifa of Odogbolu and his beloved wife. Both husband and wife left us on the same day. It’s a painful loss to the Amigboro and Ojurongbe families and the entire Odogbolu community.”
The post drew comments and prayers from sympathisers on the social media platform.
Meanwhile, a resident who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity said the unexpected incident had since thrown the community into mourning.
The source said, “The incident actually happened on Friday, and from what I heard, the Oluwo of Ikosa died after undergoing surgery at an undisclosed hospital.
“Some people thereafter came to inform his wife of the sad news, and that was how the wife, a petty trader, fainted and was said to have been rushed to the hospital, but she did not survive.” (The PUNCH, but headline reworked)
