The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has issued President Muhammadu Buhari the National Identity Card.
The Commission on Wednesday promised that Nigerians who are yet to pick up theirs would do so in 90 days’ time.
The Director-General of the Commission, Mr. Chris Onyemenem, who made the presentation in the President’s office, blamed the delay of the issuance of the cards on the inability of the contractors to perform.
Mr. Onyemenem told State House correspondents after the presentation that other agencies of government would be integrated into the national identity to avoid the duplication of identity which has posed a problem in the past.
Before the presentation of the National Identity Card to President Buhari, Mr. Onyemenam and the officials of NIMC took time out to activate the electronic identity and the security around the card as well as the payment solution.
President Buhari collected his national identity card two months after the capture of his data.
