Members of the Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria have staged a peaceful protest to Government House in Ilorin, asking the Federal Government to direct the anti-graft agency to investigate the National Pension Commission (NPC).

The pensioners, who stormed the seat of power in Ilorin, alleged that the NPC had an agreement with them to pay them 50 per cent of their salaries monthly after retirement, but has only been paying them 25 per cent.

They also accused the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) of also reneging on the agreement of providing their families free health care till their death, wondering how they could be an exception since other federal agencies are benefitting.

However, all efforts to get the reaction of management of the NPC proved abortive as they declined comment and directed journalists to the national headquarters in Abuja.

At the office of the National Health Insurance Scheme, an officer who claimed anonymity, said the agency is yet to commence the programme for retired police officers adding that no agreement was signed with them in that regard. (Channels TV)
