The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase, on Tuesday inaugurated 15 Nissan Patrol Vans for the Police Command in Kano.
Inaugurating the vehicles, Arase, represented by the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Idris, said vehicles would assist the police in controlling rate of crime in the state.
He said the vehicles would also boost the morale of the police in curbing crime in the state.
He appealed to the state government to provide more patrol vehicles to the command to ensure effective patrol along highways.
Earlier, the state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, commended the police for the gesture, assuring that the police and the state government would use the vehicles judiciously.
He said the vehicles would facilitate police quick response to crime and other heinous activities in the state.
“The provisions of more patrol vehicles and other security equipment will help the police respond to distress calls at any given time.”
The governor commended security agencies in the country for their efforts in the campaign against insurgency in the North East part of the country. (NAN)
