Ogun judiciary commences training for magistrates, judiciary staff

The Ogun State Chief Judge, Mrs. Olatokunbo Olopade, has revealed that the state judiciary has commenced series of refresher courses for Magistrates, Judicial Assistants, Secretaries, Court Registrars, Clerks and Bailiffs across the state.

Olopade, who made the statement on Monday in Abeokuta while speaking with newsmen, said the four-day training was organised in partnership with the National Judicial Institute (NJI), Abuja.

She said the training was organised to improve the standard and quality of the state judicial system and judiciary staff.

She urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the training, saying it was organised to update their knowledge, broaden their horizon and enhance their performance.

The Director of Studies, NJI, Mr. Cyprain Ajah said the training, which includes Information Communication Technology (ICT), became imperative because of the need to build the capacity of judicial officers and staff.

He said the essence of the training was to ensure that judicial officers carry out their duties effectively and fast track the dispensation of justice.

“The institute took the bold initiative by bringing the training to the doorsteps of the participants because of the financial constraints of the judiciary to participate in most of the training programmes of the institute.

“The world is improving on so many aspects of life and people must evolve with it to be at the peak of their professions.

“This can only be achieved by training and re-training of employees.” (NAN)
