Kaduna Electric, operator of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, has recruited 3,000 new workers to boost its performance and operational efficiency.
The company shall also generate about 15,000 indirect jobs through third party vendors and contractors.
This was disclosed in Sokoto yesterday by the Managing Director/CEO of the Company, Engineer Garba Haruna, during the opening session of a five-day induction course organised for the newly recruited staff.
Engineer Garba who was represented by the Chief Engineering and Technical Services Officer of the Company, Engineer Bello A Musa, on Monday, revealed that “the Company is undergoing a complete overhaul, hence, the need to inject new and vibrant young men and women into its workforce for operational efficiency.”
Kaduna Electric shall have a fundamental break with the old tradition which did not enhance efficiency, he further stated.
He said: “The induction course and basic training are being carried out simultaneously in Sokoto and Kaduna and is aimed at providing basic orientation to the newly recruited staff.”
Engr. Haruna charged the new staff to brace-up as the tasks ahead require hard work and dedication.”
He also announced that the Company plan to deploy 500,000 meters in the four states of its operation in the next five years to ensure customers get value for their money and stop inaccurate billing.
One of the resource persons, Dr. Abubakar Sabo of Usman Danfodio Sokoto, revealed that the participants in the next five days shall be exposed to basic engineering, human resources, safety marketing, corporate rules and regulations, metering installation, operational guidelines.
