Delta State Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has commended religious bodies in the country for their fervent prayers and contribution towards the just concluded peaceful 2015 elections.

Speaking at a Thanksgiving Service at the weekend at the Believers Loveworld Christian Ministry in Asaba organised in honour of the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly Hon. Friday Osanebi, Governor Okowa said that the fervent prayers of the clergymen contributed heavily to the peaceful and violent free elections witnessed throughout the country despite all the apprehensions.

“Internationally, many countries believe that Nigeria will implode during and after the elections but God gave the country peace because of the prayers of the church,” Senator Okowa said.

He charged the church to continue in her prayers so that God would continue to sustain the peace in the nation.

Earlier Pastor Eween Edun in her sermon titled ‘Life Is Spiritual’ observed that Christians need faith to believe the word of God and work with Him, stressing that all God needed was our truth, as the canal man cannot please God.

Highpoint of the occasion was the thanksgiving offering by the Deputy speaker accompanied by Governor Okowa, legislators among others.
