Senator Dino Melaiye declares Yoruba readiness to succeed Gov Wada

Senator Dino Melaye yesterday sent Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Yomi Awoniyi to Governor Inuwa Wada of the Yorubas’ preparedness to take over power from him in the next election.

At the Ogidimela new yam festival in Ogidi-Ijumu, Kogi State, Senator Melaye minced no word in his declaration and also told the deputy governor, in attendance, to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that the wind of change would not spare anyone in the state.

The senator pointed out that the Okun (Yoruba) people are the most deprived of all ethnic groups that make up Kogi State, saying, however, that the time of change is around the corner, when his people would hit the political map of the state.

“I want to use this opportunity to send His Excellency, the deputy governor to the governor that the Okun people will soon take over at the Lugard House. It is a project God has done. This is, therefore, advising you to join the forces of change,” he said.

Senator Melaiye promised the people that he would use the opportunity they gave him through their votes to right the wrongs of the past, especially in the area of the bad roads that adorn the entire landscape of his senatorial district.

“I have spoken with the president and senate president on this issue and I will not relent. I will not stop mounting pressure on them until they do what we want because that is the essence of our massive votes for them,” he said.

Senator Melaiye shocked the crowd when he defied his all-white guinea brocade flowing agbada and suddenly threw his whole weight on the floor in a song of praise to God for his victory at the polls and the tribunal recent revalidation of the result.

He ended the song with a flawless recitation of the opening chapter of the Quran, an act that further caught the crowd unawares and won him a wild ovation as he was returning to his seat.
