Family of quadruplet cries to Delta, Enugu Govs over hospital bill

Hospital bill of not more than N250, 000 has held the first quadruplet of Delta State Teaching Hospital, Oghara at the hospital.

The set of quadruplet delivered to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Ejike Anyanwu, of No. 6 Ejirea Street, Off NNPC Housing Complex Road Ekpan, on May 15 has been at the neonatal care of the hospital over a month and was due to leave the hospital last week but their father could not afford the bill of N250,000 charged as the cost of delivery and treatment.

According to Anyanwu, “I spent close to N300,000 for laboratory examinations, and drugs which I was buying from pharmacies outside the hospital. Some of the drugs were even collected on credit and at some point. I became stranded when they refused to further give me on credit. I had to borrow money from friends and neighbours to meet up some of the expenses.”

“People had been of tremendous assistance to see that the children eat, as they contribute baby food and other necessary things to enable the babies feed while at the hospital. The biggest challenge I have right now is how to settle the hospital bill and feed these four beautiful children at once with my level of economy.”

He stated that if the babies had arrived when his building material business was booming, he would have been able to wither the storm but that his business had collapsed two years. He said that he and his full-time house wife and two previous kids were merely surviving from the proceeds he was receiving from loading and offloading trucks.

Anyanwu, who hails from Enugu Ezike Aji in Igbo Eze North LGA, is calling on Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and Chief Ifeanyi Uguanyi governors of Delta and Enugu States respectively to come to his aids in offering assistance to him and his quadruplet.

“I am appealing to Delta State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and Enugu State governor, Chief Ifeanyi Uguanyi. National and State Assembly members, philanthropists, corporate organizations and well-meaning Nigerians assist me in settling the bills and giving these children cause to live,” he pleaded
