24,072 to be admitted into Unity Colleges

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr Macjohn Nwaobiala, has announced plans by the Federal Government to admit 24,072 candidates into the 104 Federal Government Unity Colleges in the 2015 academic session.

Dr. Nwaobiala made this disclosure in Abuja shortly after monitoring the conduct of the National Common Entrance interview.

He said that the admissions would be done on merit based on the subsisting capacity of the Federal Unity Colleges.

He added that adequate security measures have been put in place by National Examination Council (NECO), especially in states facing serious security challenges.

The examination body has said that Lagos State recorded the highest number of candidates sitting for the 2015 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) with 25,437 pupils, while Borno State had the least with 55 candidates.

Over 86,000 students were said to have sat for the examination and they stand a chance of gaining admission into the 104 Federal Government Unity Colleges across the federation.
