The Senate President, David Mark, has said he would not go to court if he fails to make it back to the National Assembly.
Mark told newsmen at his Otukpo residence at the weekend that Nigerians have been wasting a lot of resources on the challenge of election results in law courts and pointed out that politicians should be able to accept results of free and fair elections in good faith.
While recalling how many Nigerians had expressed desperation over cases that were not favourable to them, the senate president said : “Believe you me, the entire battle which some people regard as do-or-die is not worth it; if I lose this senatorial election, I will not go to court”.
Mark said the peaceful and orderly conduct of last Saturday’s election showed that Nigerian democracy was becoming deep rooted and called for more efforts on the part of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in the usage of card redeems in subsequent elections.
