NDYFGG National President, Comr Ukueku
The National President of the Niger Delta Youth for Good Governance (NDYFGG), Comr. Lucky O.O. Ukueku, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the successful passage of the State Police Bill into law.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, Comr. Ukueku also applauded state governors across party lines who supported the legislation, describing it as a landmark achievement for national security.
“Security is beyond one party”
Ukueku stressed that security should not be left to government and opposition alone. “When you see something, say something. All Nigerians must put their hands on deck. We have no other place to call home,” he said.
He appealed to authorities saddled with implementing the State Police structure to put proper machinery in place for effective operations. He urged citizens to support security agencies and promptly report criminal activities in their communities.
The NDYFGG leader added that the new law would create job opportunities for Nigerian youth and urged them to take advantage of it to protect and defend the fatherland. “Anyone associating with criminal activities is an enemy of the land,” he warned.
Describing the Bill’s passage as “one of the greatest achievements of the APC-led administration”, Ukueku charged Nigerians to remain united and ensure that “enemies of peace are flushed out”.
Fuel price appeal
Comr. Ukueku also called on President Tinubu and the Senate to address the rising cost of fuel, noting that it has led to increases in the price of goods and services, making life unbearable for the common man.
“If this insecurity issue can be handled and the cost of fuel reduced, Mr. President will gain more trust and confidence from Nigerians,” he said.
He concluded by urging the President and Senate to caution those in charge of State Police not to use it to intimidate citizens or allow politicians to use it to oppress the poor. “Their duty is to protect all Nigerian lives and property,” he stated.
