INEC succeeds in Edo, falters in Delta

The presidential and National Assembly elections have been going well in Edo State but the story is different in neighbouring Delta State.

Accreditation and voting have been generally peaceful in Edo, including in the state capital, Benin. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has generally kept to time.

Even so, there have been complaints in some areas. For example, at the Ologbosere Primary School in Ikpoba Okha local government where he voted, Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Victor Ekhator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) complained about potential hoarding of ballot papers by INEC.

Reports coming in from Delta speak of several hitches, notably with regard to the card reader machines, which were either not available or failed to work in several places.
