The Association of Luxury Bus Owners of Nigeria (ALBON) has lamented the heavy loss experienced by its members following the COVID-19 lockdown in the country which led to closure of motor parks and state boundaries.
The association said its members lost over N12 billion as a result of the lockdown.
It called for Federal Government assisted loan facilities and other palliatives to enable its members overcome the economic challenges the pandemic has placed on the transport sector.
The association said it is seeking for the assistance through the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
Addressing journalists in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Tuesday, ALBON’s National Task Force Chairman Joseph Ejiofor and Anambra State Task Force Chairman Uchenna Maduakor regretted that then association’s members were still counting losses as the lockdown and border closure persisted.
Ejiofor said: “Most members find it difficult to pay salary and feed their families because since March 2020, their buses in Nigeria and in other Africans countries were parked in their garages without doing any business.”
