Bandits
Bandits have killed a police inspector and abducted a village head and five others in a village in Kaduna State.
They ambushed a patrol van on Monday evening near Polwaya, along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road.
Eyewitnesses said the bandits also killed a villager and abducted six others, including the village head.
A member of the local vigilante, Hussaini Imam, said the Police vehicle was heading for Birnin-Gwari when it was ambushed by the bandits.
The officers were said to be from the Buruku Divisional Police Station.
Another officer was seriously injured in the attack.
Kaduna State Police Command spokesman Mohammed Jalige could not be reached to confirm the incident.
Also on Tuesday, three suspected kidnapperswere killed by Police in Niger state after a fierce exchange of fire between the bandits and the police.
The kidnappers were said to have invaded Tufa village via Gawu Babangida in Gurara local government area to kidnap people in the village.
Acting on information, a Joint Police/Vigilante team led by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Gawu Babangida, mobilised to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun battle.
During the gun battle, three of the kidnappers, 20 years Abdulqadir Abubakar, 22 years Nuhu Shuaibu, and 20 years Musa Maisaje were arrested with fatal gunshot wounds. One AK 47 rifle with erased breach number, one empty magazine, one pump action, and Army camouflage uniform were recovered from them. (The Nation)
