The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has expressed confidence in its ability to win the upcoming Local Government Elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. Both the Abuja and United Kingdom (UK) branches of the party have lately spoken in this regard, with the latter however appealing for financial support from governors, senators and other APGA members elected into various political offices to contribute towards making this possible.
“This is to inform our members that our great party is waxing very strong in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja to winning the upcoming Local Government Elections,” said APGA UK Chapter today in a message it sent to its members.
It appealed to “APGA Governors, Senator and elected persons on APGA platform to assist our candidates financially in their logistics in winning the elections,” adding: “We should be an investor in people and not investor in ourselves. We should always have in mind that the more elected members we have in Government the more chances for APGA. We also advise people to register and join APGA so that the dividends of democracy will be delivered to their door steps.
Are you thinking what we are thinking Nigerians?”
Also commenting on the elections scheduled for March, Anyaegbunam Okoye, deputy chairman of APGA in the FCT, said the party is only contesting in four Area Councils where it has bright chances of victory.
He said: “We are contesting councillorship in four Area Councils out of six – AMAC, Bwari, Kuje and Gwagwalada. We are also contesting the chairmanship in two Area Councils AMAC and Kuje. All our councillors were unopposed but we still have to follow due process and they have to be publicly endorsed. We are truthful and this is why we are contesting in those areas we are sure of our strength so that we can devote our resources to win in those areas.”
APGA’s candidates for the election are Comrade Ajani Adekunle Kazeem, who emerged unopposed as the chairmanship candidate for Kuje Area Council; Comrade Chukwuebuka Philip Okoli, who defeated Abdurahman Abdulfattah 91 to 14 votes to emerge chairmanship candidate of Abuja Municipal (AMAC), as well as the councillorship candidates of the party in AMAC, Bwari, Kuje and Gwagwalada, all of whom emerged unopposed.
