ALTON Chairman, Engr Gbenga Adeboye
Stakeholders in the ICT sector of the Nigerian economy have hailed the idea of a national broadband conference as being packaged by News Express Media Group. Speaking on the idea as welcomed and quite timely, Chairman of Association of Licenced Telecommunications Operators in Nigeria ALTON, Engr Gbenga Adeboye, said as part of activities set in commemoration of the 2019 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) Day the event will surely create the environment for sorting out pressing issues in the sector as all concerned stakeholders will be there to deliberate and reason together.
In outright agreement with the publisher of News Express on the strides of ICT in Nigeria, Engr. Adeboye said: “I agree no less with Mr. Isaac Umunna that the rapidly growing global digital market and data assets with its transformative potentials of technology are rubbing off positively on Nigeria. It is indeed to the extent that the country is certainly drawing benefits of this growing internet of things that is driving changes in businesses and sector-specific manufacturing across the world, leaving growing inequalities within and between countries that slack.
“Nigeria has been very lucky thus far that with little investments from the government, private investors have done so much to grow the sector. It will be therefore sad if we carelessly allow this good fortune to slip off our hands by way of over and multiple taxations and other acts that are bound to send wrong signals to investors. Some of these are the threat by NCAA to pull down about 7,000 GSM masts across the country, such and other harassments by many states and their agencies, among others.”
