Thunderstorm
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Sunday, May 5, 2019:
NORTHERN STATES: Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are anticipated over the region in the morning hours with chances of thunderstorm activities over Sokoto, Yelwa, Gausa, and Kastina axis. Later in the day, thunderstorm activities are likely over Kastina, Kano, Gausa and Zaria axis with the other parts in partly cloudy conditions. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the ranges of 37 – 41℃ and 26 – 29℃ respectively.
CENTRAL STATES: Thunderstorm activities are to prevail over Abuja, Ibi, Jalingo, Lokoja, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Minna, Lafia, Mambilla and Ilorin axis in the morning hours. As the day progresses, thunderstorm activities are expected over the high ground cities of the central region, which include places around Makurdi, Lokoja, Abuja, Lafia and Minna with the other parts in cloudy conditions. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 27 – 35℃ and 18 – 27℃respectively.
SOUTHERN STATES: Cloudy conditions are envisaged over the inland parts of the country with possibilities of thunderstorms activities over Abeokuta, Ibadan, Akure, Benin, Oshogbo and Ado-Ekiti axis in the morning hours. As the day progresses, widespread thunderstorm activities are likely over the region. Thunderstorm activities are likely over the coastal parts of the country expect for Lagos and Ijebu-ode axis, where cloudy conditions are to prevail. Widespread thunderstorm activities are anticipated over the entire region in the afternoon into evening hours. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the ranges of 32 – 36℃ and 23 – 25℃ respectively.
