Acting IGP Mohammed Adamu
The Kaduna State Police Command has paraded 34 suspected criminals, including kidnappers and armed bandits terrorising the state.
The command also arrested suspects alleged to have rustled over 300 cattle and sheep. All the suspects are currently undergoing further investigation.
Among items recovered from the suspects and displayed were three AK47 rifles, with 27 rounds of live ammunition; one locally-made pistol; 41 dane guns; a pair of army camouflage uniform; a Honda Civic car, with registration number BL 688 GWA and two Bajaj motorcycles, both unregistered.
The state Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdulrahman, at a press briefing, said the Command had embarked on raid of bandits and other criminals causing unrest in the state, leading to the successful arrest of the suspects.
He stated that the determination to flush out the miscreants was evident with the recently launched Operation Puff Adder by the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, and the subsequent confidence-building campaign of the Command, particularly along Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.
“The suspects have confessed to have been terrorising Birnin-Gwari Road and have been involved in cattle rustling within the neighbourhoods/surrounding villages. The ringleader and four others are still at large, but we are making every effort to apprehend them,” he added.
