Ebonyi Govt set to build cement factory

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi in his bid to develop his state has approved the establishment of Ebonyi Cement factory (EBOCEM) at Ogboto in Ishielu Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner for information and state orientation, Senator Emmanuel Onwe, stated this at the Executive council chambers government while briefing journalist on the outcome of Tuesday EXCO meeting.

According to Onwe, a committee to be chaired by the Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Engr. Francis Orji has been set up to actualise the dream.

His words: “The council has approved the establishment of EBOCEM, which is a company that will be responsible for the production of cement,and the site will be sited at Okpoto, and Government will take 10% stakeholders in that company. A committee chaired by Engr Francis Orji the commissioner for solid minerals communities was set to drive the actualisation of the company.”

However, Onwe noted that a committee has also set for the movement of Ebonyi Rice city. He also announced the establishment of Ebonyi State University Radio station and Faculty of Engineering.

“Ebonyi University has established a radio station 88.4fm and the Faculty of Engineering has also been created,” he said.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Security and Border Peace, Kenneth Ugbala, announced that the problem rocking Abakaliki and Ikwo local government areas has been resolved peacefully.

According to him, the State Government has acquired the disputed land and will share the land between the people of Enyigba community of Abakaliki LGA and Enyibuchiri community of Ikwo LGA.

Ugbala further noted that the council has also set up an implementation committee headed by Rev Fr Abraham Nwali to provide the statement with a legal instrument that will be sent to Ebonyi State House of Assembly to ensure that the decision of Ebonyi State Government concerning the disputed land is legislated upon by the House members and it will be implemented strongly to guide all the decisions concerning all the intra land disputed areas in the state.

Meanwhile, Ugbala also added that the miscreants that were responsible for the killings of the innocent Ebonyians on 5th and 6th April must be fish out and make to face the full wrath of the law, adding that the primary responsibility of Ebonyi State Government is to protect the lives and properties of every Ebonyi citizens.
