Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga who was yesterday announced as the new deputy governor of Kaduna State, was tapped for the job within hours of the death of Governor Patrick Yakowa, and as arrangements were being made to swear-in erstwhile deputy, Alhaji Muktar Ramalan Yero, as the new governor, News Express can reveal this evening.
Information at the disposal of News Express showed that those opposed to Bajoga’s nomination as deputy governor are only wasting their time.
“He got a text message less than 24 hours after the copter crash that killed Yakowa, telling him to get ready to be deputy governor,” a source familiar with how Bajoga emerged as deputy governor told News Express.
Governor Yero had yesterday formally nominated Bajoga as his deputy despite opposition by a coalition of opinion leaders from Southern Kaduna, from where Bajoga hails.
News Express had yesterday broken the story of the forwarding of the name of Ambassador Bajoga, currently Chairman of the Kaduna State branch of the peoples Democtaric Party (PDP) to the House of Assembly for screening.
It would be recalled that became governor following the death of his principal, Ibrahim Yakowa, in penultimate Saturday’s helicopter crash in President Goodluck Jonathan’s home state, Bayelsa, which killed all six persons on board, including former National Security Adviser, retired Gen. Andrew Owoeye Azazi.
