Enugu Police Spokesperson, ASP Ebere Amaraizu
The Anti-Kidnap Unit of Enugu State Police Command has unmasked and nabbed suspected notorious armed robbers and killers blamed for several nefarious activities within Enugu and its environs.
The arrested suspects include the killers of Chinedu Okechukwu Nzegwu, who was taken from his Ugbene residence and murdered at Mammy Fly Over on May 9, 2018; one Johnbull, a contractor at Miliken Hill Road Ngwo, who was murdered on July 29, 2018; as well as the killers of a policeman at Obioma Street Uwani Enugu in the midnight of September 12, 2018.
Enugu Police Spokesperson, ASP Ebere Amaraizu, gave the names of the suspects as Obunike Ugbene (M) of about 27 and the ringleader of the gang, from Amaofiagu in Affa of Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, but residing at Obinagu road, Abakpa Enugu; Malu Kenneth Uchenna (M), 27, from Imezi Owa Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State but residing opposite East Local Government Council Headquarters Abakpa; Nkemdilim Uchenna Mathew (M), 23, from Nodu-Okpuno Awka of Anambra State but residing around Abakpa First Bus Stop axis; Chukwuma Mbam (M), 22, from Ikwo in Ebonyi State; Stanley Okoleze Uchenna, 23, from Aguobuowa Enugu State and whose duty it is to monitor persons and places to be attacked and inform the gang and also to stand somewhere to give signal to the gang if security operatives are coming.
Also arrested are Chinedu Mbam (M), 25, from Izzi in Ebonyi State, and Okoli Chika Patrick, 33, from Obunofia Ndiuno Ezeagu Enugu State, a dealer and supplier of cannabis sativa to the gang members.
