This year’s edition, slated for the Uyo Township Stadium tomorrow, December 20, will have the 9,999 Carol Singers from Akwa Ibom perform to the delight of a global audience, through major television networks, according to the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah.
Umanah said in a statement that the Carol Night would also feature an international choir from Congo-Brazzaville, Chorale Divine De Merveilles, alongside a newly assembled 200-man classical choir, a 100-man orchestra, 35-man special choir and two world class gospel music icons from the United States, Alvin Slaughter and Donnie McClurkin.
The commissioner also disclosed that the event will have the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, as Guest Minister. He said it would equally feature four of the most outstanding female gospel musicians of Akwa Ibom origin, namely, Linda Etukudo, Anne Inyang, Pat Akpabio and Aity Dennis-Inyang.
For the guests, expected to be in excess of 20,000, Umanah assured that adequate arrangements have been made to ensure hitch-free movements in and around the venue, where church leaders, political chieftains, captains of industry, senior citizens and elder statesmen would be present.
The Uyo Township Stadium is already wearing a new look, while arrangements have been concluded to position mega screens at different locations for viewing by members of the public.
