Iran has warned that any country assisting the United States in military operations against the Islamic Republic will be considered a legitimate target for retaliation.
In a statement carried by Iranian state media, Tehran said countries providing military, logistical or operational support to Washington would face consequences.
The warning comes amid growing hostilities between Iran and the United States, following a series of attacks targeting the interests of both countries across the Middle East.
According to Anadolu Agency, Iranian officials said the country was prepared to defend itself against any threat and would not hesitate to retaliate against parties involved in attacks on its territory or interests.
The warning is believed to be directed at US allies in the Middle East that host American military bases or provide facilities for Washington’s regional military operations.
Tehran also warned that military action against Iran could have far-reaching consequences for regional stability, international trade and global energy security.
The latest threat comes as several countries continue to call for restraint and renewed diplomatic negotiations to prevent the confrontation from developing into a wider regional war.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has reportedly acknowledged that the conflict with Iran affected his party’s performance in the recent elections, although he defended his administration’s actions as necessary for national security.
There are currently no indications that either Washington or Tehran is prepared to significantly soften its position, raising concerns over the possibility of further military confrontation and its implications for the wider Middle East.
