The Nasarawa State Police Command said it had apprehended four suspected cultists alleged to have stabbed a military officer, Corporal Benjamin Jige, to death.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Friday, the NPF said a combined tactical team of police operatives and military personnel arrested the suspects.
The statement read, “On November 1, 2026, acting on credible intelligence, a combined tactical team of police operatives and military personnel, led by Captain Useini Ariyo, executed a joint operation to apprehend perpetrators linked to the culpable homicide of Corporal Benjamin Jige, a military officer stabbed to death by suspected cultists.
“Operatives raided New Legit Hotel and arrested four principal suspects: Godwin Tanko (42), Abuchi Simon (27), Divine Omegle (32) and Samuel Alonge (21), all males.
“Enquiries revealed additional suspects, including a Vikings Confraternity cult leader known as ‘Bigi Rasta’ and Simon Joshua Junior, who fled the scene and are currently at large. Sustained tracking and bush-combing operations are ongoing.”
The police added that the case was being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia, the state capital. (PUNCH)
