One of the suspected killer cultists
The Anambra State Police Command on Friday arrested three suspected cultists in Ihiala, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state over the murder of a 26-year-old man, Dominic Njemwere.
The suspects were said to have machete the deceased severally on his body until he passed out.
The deceased was said to have been rushed to a nearby hospital in the area where he was confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, said the corpse had been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
He explained that their arrest was prompted by an intelligence report received by police detectives attached to Ihiala division.
Mohammed said the victim was rushed to our lady of Lourdes hospital Ihiala by the police patrol team that visited the scene.
He said: “The victim was certified dead by the medical doctor while receiving treatment.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects belonged to a cult group known as Aiye Confraternity.”
While reeling out the names of suspects as Chijioke Onu, Arinze Azubuike Adigwe and Chidubem Ejezie, a.k.a Santana, the PPRO added that the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution at the end of police investigations.
