Ummah University Acting VC, Prof Kumshe
The Governing Council of Ummah University of Nigeria, Abuja, has approved the appointment of Professor Ahmed Modu Kumshe as the institution’s Acting Vice-Chancellor.
Kumshe, a Professor of Accounting and Finance at the University of Maiduguri, will assume office on October 1, 2026, subject to applicable laws and regulatory requirements governing private universities in Nigeria.
His appointment was announced in a statement issued and signed by the Founder and Pro-Chancellor of the university, Dr Mohammed Kyari Dikwa.
According to the statement, Kumshe brings to the position extensive academic, administrative and professional experience, which the university said would be valuable as it begins its operations and works towards long-term institutional development.
As Acting Vice-Chancellor, Kumshe will serve as the Chief Executive and Chief Academic Officer of the university, with responsibility for strategic leadership in administration, academic development, financial management and institutional growth.
The Governing Council expressed confidence in his ability to provide the leadership needed to build the university into an institution recognised for academic excellence, integrity, innovation and national impact.
Kumshe, who is of the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Maiduguri, has held several academic and administrative positions at the institution.
His previous positions include Head of the Department of Accounting, Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences and Deputy Director of the Centre for Distance Learning.
He also served as Registrar and Chief Executive of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and was a member of its Governing Council.
Until his appointment, was Chairman of the Planning and Implementation Committee (PIC) of Ummah University of Nigeria, where he played a key role in the processes leading to the establishment and licensing of the institution.
The university congratulated Kumshe on his appointment and expressed confidence that his leadership would contribute to the successful take-off and development of the institution.
