The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Anambra State, Mr. Sunday Ajayi, was early Saturday morning killed in an auto crash.
Ajayi was last seen on Friday during a football competition held at the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) field in Awka, where he played and presented trophy to the winners.
According to the FRSC Whatsapp group, Ajayi was involved in a fatal auto crash along Asaba-Benin Expressway where he allegedly lost his life while his driver, a senior marshal identified as Raji, survived and is still in the hospital receiving treatment.
The Watsapp text reads: “Sunday Ajayi, FRSC Boss Anambra is dead. He died in an auto crash”.
The FRSC boss before his death championed the cause of safety on the roads in Anambra State through intermittent workshops and sensitisation of commercial drivers.
He always pointed out that over 50 percent of deaths on Nigerian roads are caused by over speeding.
