Governor Amosun
Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has commissioned an ultra-modern market for livestock sellers in the state.
Amosun, after the commissioning and handover ceremony of the Itoko Livestock Market to Egbe Eleran Iso, in Itoko market, Abeokuta, said: “Our mothers must not be selling in the sun, but in a conducive environment for their trade.”
The governor stated that the market will spur development, pledging that his government will continue to support the traders, while also promising to replicate such in other markets across the state.
“We’ve modernised and upgraded the market with water, toilets and stores for your comfort and that of your goats, rams and sheep,” he said, urging the traders to ensure proper maintenance of the market.
Amosun noted that rent for the shops will be highly subsidised for the traders to allow them make great profit, adding that he is determined to ensure improvement and standard in all the sectors of the state.
Speaking earlier, the General Manager, Ogun State Housing Corporation and Special Adviser to the Governor on Housing, Mrs. Jumoke Akinwunmi, enjoined traders to take full ownership of the project and sustain its maintenance in order to attract buyers.
The Head of the Egbe Eleran Iso, Alhaja Rehanat Okunola, who expressed appreciation for the government’s gesture on behalf of the traders, promised their loyalty and support to the State Government in its efforts to take trading and commercial activities to the next level in the state.
