Governor Obaseki
The Edo State Government has entered into a partnership with two private companies with a view to carrying out permanent repairs of potholes on all its roads. The two companies, British-Nigerian Quikfix Nigeria Limited and 1st Man Global, which is representing the State Government in tripartite deal, are to carry out pothole repairs for the next five years using the former’s technologically-advanced Instant Road Repair, the world’s leading highway repair product.
Instant Road Repair, currently used in over 40 countries worldwide, is said to be ideal for the Nigerian climate, being uniquely capable of application all-year round and in all weather.
The product provides a once-only permanent repair in minutes which can be driven-over immediately with minimal impact upon traffic flows.
Quikfix Nigeria provides a five-year guarantee with every repair and delivers a turnkey service throughout the State. Initially, repairs will be carried out using ready-mixed product imported from the UK until a factory is opened in Nigeria for local manufacture. The company has a policy of only employing and training 100 per cent local personnel and recruitment will start soon for administrative, repair and production crews.
In concluding contract negotiations, the Managing Director of Quikfix Nigeria, Nyema James, said: “The Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, recognises how critical it is to maintain an efficient and safe road network, to create jobs for the great people of Edo State and to deliver an economical, permanent solution to a major problem.
“We are delighted to be able to support the Governor in his efforts to improve road conditions, lessen the number and severity of accidents, reduce congestion and provide skilled employment.”
