At least four people were killed and someothers abducted on Sundayby armed Bandits along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Austin Iwar, confirmed the attack to Channels Television.

While sympathizing with residents, the police boss gave the assurance that the force is on the trail of the bandits.

An eye witness of the attack said it occurred around6:00 pmnear Gidan Busa village, located between Jere and Kateri communities, along the expressway.

He explained that passengers were returning from Kaduna to Abuja in different vehicles, when they stumbled on the bandits who mounted a road block, stopped motorists and started shooting sporadically.

The latest attack comes a week after security operatives conducted search operations for arms at Kuriga village.

In 2017, the Kaduna-Abuja highway witnessed series of attacks by armed bandits with many abducted and lives lost in the process.

Although, the road became relatively peaceful since this year, the resurgence of Sunday’sattack by gunmen has raised fresh fear among residents.
