Eastland Electricity Distribution Limited (EEDL), has said that the drop in electricity supply currently being experienced across its franchise area especially in Ebonyi state was due to a decline in national electricity generation.
The electricity company stated that the situation has resulted constraints on the national grid.
The situation has affected the entire country and is not peculiar to Ebonyi State. According to the company, the low system frequency has necessitated load shedding by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to maintain grid stability and prevent a possible system collapse.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Head, communications, Patience Ezeagu, and made available to Journalists in Abakaliki.
“We understand the inconvenience this situation is causing our customers and sincerely regret the disruption to your daily activities and businesses.
“Please be assured that we remain committed to distributing the available electricity as efficiently as possible while the relevant stakeholders work towards improving supply.
“We appeal for your patience and understanding as we look forward to improved electricity supply when generation capacity increases and the national grid stabilises.
