Late Ibrahim Coomassie
Governor of Bayelsa State, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, has commiserated with the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Ibrahim Idris, on the death of Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie, who served as IGP between 1993 and 1999.
The Governor said the late IGP was one of the finest in the history of policing. While praying God for the repose of his soul, Dickson, himself a former Police Officer, also prayed God to give the police and his family the fortitude to bear the loss, which he said, is clearly irredeemable.
A press statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Francis Ottah Agbo, quoted Dickson as having made the remarks today when he paid a condolence visit on Idris at Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The IGP thanked Governor Dickson for the visit and commended him for being a good Ambassador of the Nigeria Police.
In a related development, frontline Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant and former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has described the late Commassie as a man of courage, honour, selfless service and a bridge builder.
In a tribute to mourn the illustrious elder statesman, Turaki said that his exemplary and patriotic service to the nation as a public servant and later as chairman of the Arewa Consultative Assembly (ACF) will remain indelible in the minds of the people.
Turaki, in a statement issued on earlier today by his campaign spokesman Shola Atere, also described the death of the Sardaunan Katsina as a personal loss to him, lamenting that he would sorely miss Alhaji Commassie’s invaluable fatherly advice.
Turaki who condoled with the Emir of Katsina, the immediate family, the Government and people of Katsina State as well as the Federal Government and people of Nigeria, prayed that Allah would grant the deceased Aljanna Firdaus.
