A new-born baby was on Thursday found lifeless inside the drainage along Enugu/Onitsha expressway.

The baby, who was apparently dumped by unknown person in the night, was discovered by a wheel barrow pusher while he was passing the area.

A worker at a park close by, Mr. Ejike Omeke, said he was busy working when a barrow pusher drew his attention to a nylon bag in drainage containing a baby.

His words: “It was the barrow pusher who went inside the drainage to pick the nylon bag to expose the content.

“Passersby, hawkers and drivers then immediately gathered around the area to have a look at the baby who was already dead.”

He said that on examination of the baby, they discovered that the baby had stab wound beside his stomach.

While condemning the act, he cautioned people to be mindful of the kind of life they live.

News Express could not ascertain who dumped the baby as at the time of filling the story.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, could not be reached for his reaction as his mobile phone said not available.
